Phone scams used to draw Russian citizens, migrants into terrorism - National Antiterrorism Committee head

MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Ukrainian security services are actively recruiting Russian citizens and migrants for terrorist crimes, including by phone scams, blackmail, threats and bribing, Federal Security Service (FSB) Director, National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) Chairman Alexander Bortnikov said.

"Seeking to implement their terrorist schemes, Ukrainian security services and neo-Nazi entities are actively recruiting and drawing into illegal activity certain Russian citizens and migrants, mostly followers of international terrorist organizations or people easily susceptible to psychological manipulation," Bortnikov said at a NAC meeting.

The NAC information center released a video of his speech.

Various methods of influence, including those online, are being used for recruitment purposes, Bortnikov said. "This includes phone scams, direct threats, blackmail, and bribing," he said.
