Peskov: Too early to talk about China's possible involvement in U.S.-Russian talks on Ukraine

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - It would be premature to talk about China's possible involvement in negotiations between the United States and Russia on a Ukraine settlement, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

"It's impossible to speak about the configuration of the parties for now, because, again, there have been no substantive contacts at the working level yet," Peskov said in reply to a corresponding question from journalists.

Speaking about the phone call between the Russian and U.S. presidents on Wednesday, Peskov said, "The heads of state voiced their political will and issued instructions. But that happened only yesterday evening Moscow time. It's noon of the next day now. Therefore, this requires a little patience," Peskov said.

Speaking about relations between Russia and China, Peskov said, "This is a country with which we are bonded by very close and multifaceted relations. Certainly, we are determined to keep developing them in every possible way. And certainly, we do value the relations of our advanced privileged strategic partnership with China."
