MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - A bill to exempt contract servicemen taking part in the special military operation from military service by conscription is being prepared for submission to the State Duma, State Duma Defense Committee Chairman Andrei Kartapolov said.
"Those who volunteered to sign a contract, have not served in the Armed Forces by conscription before and have spent at least six months in the special military operation zone, shall not be drafted," Kartapolov told the press on Tuesday.
The bill is being drafted together with government colleagues, he said.
