MINSK. Feb 24 (Interfax) - Belarus does not threaten Ukraine or Western neighbors, Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Alexander Volfovich said.
"Not just Ukraine, we are not threatening anyone at all. Yet he [Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky] has started frightening our neighbors, Poland and the Baltic countries, with claims that another Russian contingent will be deployed to Belarus and a strike force of some kind will be formed. Why? The policy of Russia and Belarus does not aim at any conquests, claims," Volfovich said on the Belarus 1 television channel on Sunday.
"The events we plan and hold are completely open, transparent and regular. In terms of scope and number of such events, we hold much less of them compared to neighbors, such as Poland and the Baltic countries. We do not build ranges 15 kilometers from the border. Yes, we have ranges inherited from the former Soviet Union. Yet we do not expand their infrastructure or increase the number of troops stationed there," he said.
Volfovich said he completely ruled out a possibility of escalation by Belarus.
