Ukrainian forces lose over 240 troops, S-300, Buk-M1 launchers in Kursk region in past 24 hours - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Ukrainian forces lost over 240 troops and two launchers of S-300 and Buk-M1 air defense missile systems in the Kursk region over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"In the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost over 240 troops, and a tank, two infantry vehicles, four armored personnel carriers, 17 armored combat vehicles, 18 vehicles, six artillery systems, including a U.S.-made Paladin self-propelled artillery system, a mortar, two launchers of S-300 and Buk-M1 air defense missile systems, an S-300 air defense missile system radar, an engineering vehicle, eight drone control stations, and an ammo depot have been destroyed," the statement said.

Units from the northern group of forces repelled two Ukrainian counterattacks over the day, it said.

Russian forces hit detachments of 12 Ukrainian brigades and two regiments near 12 populated localities in the Kursk region, it said.

Tactical aircraft, army aviation and artillery struck Ukrainian troops and hardware near 26 populated localities in the Kursk region and nine populated localities in the Sumy region, it said.

"Over the period of hostilities in the Kursk sector, the enemy has lost over 63,835 troops, 382 tanks, 290 infantry vehicles, 247 armored personnel carriers, 2,072 armored combat vehicles, 2,229 vehicles, 491 artillery systems, and 52 multiple rocket launchers," it said.

In addition, 25 air defense missile launchers, a self-propelled artillery system, ten transporter-loaders, 116 electronic warfare stations, 15 counterbattery radars, nine air defense radars, and 51 engineering and other vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been destroyed in the Kursk region to date, it said.
