Armenia's territorial claims on Azerbaijan obstruct path to peace - Azerbaijani FM

BAKU. March 11 (Interfax) - Armenia has still not withdrawn its territorial claims on Azerbaijan and is manifesting revanchist sentiment, which is an obstacle to a durable peace between the two countries, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said in Astana on Tuesday.

"Azerbaijan and Armenia have come quite a long way in the process of normalizing relations and signing a peace treaty between the two states. Despite this, numerous obstacles still obstruct the path toward a durable peace, the principle ones being territorial claims on Azerbaijan in the Armenian constitution, that country's rapid militarization, and the growing revanchist sentiment," Azerbaijan's Report news agency quoted Bayramov as saying at a news briefing with his Kazakh counterpart.

Bayramov thanked Kazakhstan for providing a platform for negotiations with his Armenian counterpart on normalizing Azerbaijani-Armenian relations in May 2024. He described this gesture as one showing that Kazakhstan attaches great significance to the peace process between Baku and Yerevan.
