Putin may have int'l phone call on Thurs evening - Kremlin

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has an international phone call on his schedule for Thursday evening, and other contacts are planned for today besides negotiations with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko visiting Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The president may have an international telephone call this evening, quite late at night. We will keep you posted. Other contacts are not ruled out today, either, and we will keep you posted as much as possible and necessary," Peskov told reporters.

On March 11, U.S. President Donald Trump said that he was planning a telephone conversation with Putin. When asked whether the conversation was possible this week, Trump said, "I think so, yeah."

The Belarusian president will pay an official visit to Russia on Thursday. "Putin will speak with his Belarusian counterpart one-on-one, Russian-Belarusian negotiations will follow in the format of an official lunch, documents will be signed, and the presidents will give a joint press conference," Peskov said.

Belarus is Russia's closest ally, a member of the Russia-Belarus Union State, which is the most developed integration format in the former Soviet Union based on the principles of mutual respect and account of each other's interests, he said. "All processes are continuing, and the agenda is more than vast," Peskov said.
