MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Russia and the United States have intensified embassy contacts, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"We stay in contact on the diplomatic level via our embassies, and it's intensifying, compared to what we had with the previous administration. There is a huge number of issues," Zakharova said at a press briefing.
Russia "is waiting for our ambassador to start working in Washington, while the embassy sees a certain trend towards intensifying reciprocal communication by the Department of State," she said.
"We have never initiated the blocking of such contacts, yet we have given a tit-for-tat response when we saw such an attitude towards us," Zakharova said.
Contacts are also being maintained with the U.S. embassy in Moscow, "as there are issues to be discussed and worked on," she said.
"Contacts have intensified on the level of our embassies and diplomats. I would say they have stopped being blocked and tend to intensify," Zakharova said.
