Moscow extends entry ban for EU countries, institutions in retaliation to 16th sanction package - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Moscow has "considerably" extended its list of individual citizens of European Union countries and officials from EU institutions banned from entering Russia in retaliation to the restrictive measures the EU imposed on February 24, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"In response to those unfriendly actions, the Russian side has considerably extended the list of representatives of European institutions and European Union member states who are [...] banned from entering our country's territory," the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The measure applies, in particular, to officials from EU security agencies, government and business organizations, citizens of EU member states responsible for providing military support to Ukraine, individuals responsible for illegally prosecuting Russian citizens, imposing sanctions or calling for confiscating Russian assets, and lawmakers from EU countries and the European Parliament who voted for anti-Russian resolutions and bills, it said.

"Certain representatives of the Council of Europe's institutions who have been engaged in anti-Russian activities have also been added to the Russian entry-ban list," it said.
