MURMANSK. March 28 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has approved a marine reorganization program, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"The General Staff and the Defense Ministry approved a reorganization program for the marines, for these units. We will gradually turn brigades into divisions. This includes two divisions this year, among them the 155th Brigade [of the Pacific Fleet], another two divisions next year, and one more the year after that," Putin said at a meeting with submariners in Murmansk.
It would be necessary to arm the divisions, provide them with communication systems, and ensure personnel military training, he said.
