MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - The Kremlin is expecting Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the latter's visit to Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We are expecting President Putin to receive Mr. Wang Yi so that they could talk," Peskov told the press on Monday.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Wang would pay an official visit to Russia March 31 - April 2 at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

"The leaders of both states [Russia and China] always receive high-ranking delegations of each other. Putin has known Wang Yi for a long time, and Wang Yi is acquainted with Putin," Peskov said.

Wang is one of "our old, good friends and partners," he said.

Wang is due to hold talks with Lavrov on April 1. "The foreign ministers of Russia and China will discuss bilateral relations, including high-level and summit contacts, and pressing items on the global agenda, including prospects for settling the Ukraine crisis," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
