Russian Defense Ministry reports striking Ukrainian positions in Sumy region

MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - Russian forces have carried out strikes on Ukrainian positions in the Sumy region in the Belgorod sector of the special military operation, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"Units of the northern group of forces hit concentrations of personnel and hardware of a mechanized brigade, two assault regiments of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and two territorial defense brigades near Veliky Prikol, Miropolye, Ugroyedy, and Turya in the Sumy region," it said.

In the Kharkov sector, said units struck two Ukrainian brigades in the area of Kazachya Lopan and Volchansk.

"The enemy's losses amounted to up to 70 troops, an armored personnel carrier, and an artillery piece. An electronic warfare station and a fuel depot have been destroyed," it said.

The ministry said on Sunday that Russian forces were advancing in the Kursk sector and that airstrikes and artillery strikes were delivered upon Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Sumy region.

Last Saturday, the ministry reported taking control of Veselovka in the Sumy region.
