MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Russia has not heard U.S. signals for Kiev regarding the end of the Ukraine conflict, but it takes the solutions proposed by Washington seriously, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
"We have not heard any signal from [U.S. President Donald Trump] for Kiev on ending the war. There is nothing for now but an attempt to find a certain formula that would first allow us to achieve a ceasefire, as it is imagined by the Americans, before moving on to other models and formulas. Yet, as far as we can tell, they have no place for our chief demand, i.e. the resolution of problems associated with root causes of this conflict," Ryabkov said in an interview with the International Affairs journal.
The absence of a solution to root causes of the problem in the U.S. proposals "needs to be fixed," he said.
"We take the models and solutions proposed by the Americans quite seriously but cannot accept everything as is," Ryabkov said.
Russia has "a thoroughly considered set of priorities and approaches to the issue, which has been elaborated, in particular, by the negotiating team to the recent meeting with the Americans in Riyadh," he said.
