MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Chinese President Xi Jinping will come to Russia on an official visit and take part in the ceremonies celebrating the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, Russian President Vladimir Putin said while meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday.
"I'd like to ask you to convey my friendly greetings to the president of China, my good friend, Mr. Xi Jinping. We will welcome him in Russia for the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, in WWII. We will celebrate this jubilee and the victory over Nazi Germany and the victory over Japanese militarism together," Putin said.
"We will prepare a good and eventful program. I hope this will not only be related to the Chinese president's participation in the celebration ceremonies, but will also be his special visit. He will be our principal guest," Putin said.
Putin said he planned to discuss with Xi the current state of Russian-Chinese bilateral relations and interactions on international platforms, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS.
"We would like to appreciate the way our relations are developing, including with direct support from our foreign ministries. I know you have an eventful visit agenda. Above all, it is related to preparations for the Chinese president's arrival in Russia," Putin said.
