MOSCOW April 23 (Interfax) - Russia stays in contact with the United States and is ready for contacts with Europe and Ukraine for the sake of conflict settlement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"We are continuing our contacts with the Americans. We have no contacts with the Europeans. There are no contacts with the Ukrainians either, although President Putin stays open to such contacts for the settlement's sake. This is the status quo for today," Peskov told the press.
Reporters asked Peskov to comment on a meeting in London that representatives of Europe, Ukraine and the United States were due to attend. It was reported later that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Special Presidential Representative Steve Witkoff would not take part in the talks.
"No summit was planned in London. I don't know what you are talking about. A summit is a meeting of the highest level. In London, it was supposed to be a meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian representatives for the U.S. to continue its mediating efforts," Peskov said.
"As we understand, they have failed to reconcile positions on certain issues. This is why the meeting has not taken place," he said.
