BAKU. May 3 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent greetings on the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"Celebrating this anniversary, citizens of our countries pay tribute to the memory of those who brought victory over Nazi invaders on the battlefields and in the rear, sparing neither their strength nor their lives," Putin said in his greetings published on the Azerbaijani presidential website.
The glorious traditions of friendship and mutual assistance, forged in those difficult years, will remain a solid basis for the development of friendly, allied relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, he said.
"Please convey my sincere gratitude, cordial greetings and wishes of robust health, wellbeing and longevity to all veterans who live in Azerbaijan," Putin said.
