MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - Russian forces have taken control of the Novaya Poltavka village in the DPR, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
"Active and resolute operations have enabled units from the central group of forces to take control of Novaya Poltavka in the Donetsk People's Republic," the statement said.
"Detachments of three mechanized brigades and an assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, two territorial defense brigades, and a National Guard brigade were struck near Ulyanovka, Koptevo, Novoekonomicheskoye, Novosergeyevka, Alekseyevka, Kotlyarovka, Petrovskoye, Dimitrov and Nikolayevka in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said.
In that sector, Ukrainian forces lost up to 400 troops, seven armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks, and three artillery systems, it said.
