MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - Russian forces destroyed a Patriot defense system position in the Kiev region by a strike using precision-guided weapons, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
"A position of a U.S.-made Patriot air defense missile system in the Kiev region was struck," it said.
Russian forces delivered a large-scale strike with ground-based precision-guided weapons and drones on May 24, the ministry said. The targets included a Ukrainian defense facility making missile weapons and attack drones, the Ukrainian Security Service's radio reconnaissance center and aviation center in the Kiev region, a temporary base of the South special operations center near Chernomorsk in the Odessa region, as well as a temporary base of the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Azov unit (banned in Russia) near Izyum in the Kharkov region, it said.
Iskander-M missiles destroyed an AN/MPQ-65 multifunction radar system and a Patriot system's command and control vehicle and two launchers near Ordzhonikidze in the Dnepropetrovsk region, the ministry said.
