Russian FM, Pakistani PM's special assistant discuss regional, int'l security

MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held consultations with the Pakistani Prime Minister's Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi in Moscow on Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"Bilateral interaction and regional and international security have been discussed," the ministry said in a statement published on its website.

Fatemi informed Lavrov about the Pakistani stance on the situation in Pakistani-Indian relations, it said.

"The Russian side underlined the need for direct dialogue and higher level of mutual confidence between New Delhi and Islamabad," the statement said.

The meeting "emphasized the need for intensifying joint efforts in fighting all manifestations of terrorism that are taken at international venues, above all, the UN and the SCO," it said.
