Launch of Russia's Angara LV from Plesetsk Cosmodrome scheduled for June 19

TOMSK. June 16 (Interfax) - The department for protecting the population and territory of Russia's Tomsk region has announced the launch of an Angara launch vehicle slated for this week and warned that parts of the launch vehicle could fall on the region's territory following the liftoff.

"The launch of an Angara launch vehicle is scheduled for June 19 from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome. According to data received from the Roscosmos state corporation, the rocket's launch is scheduled to take place at 6 a.m. Moscow time. Parts of the launch vehicle may fall onto the territory of the Tomsk region," the department said in a statement on its Telegram channel.

June 20 has been set as the backup launch date, the statement said.

The area where the separable parts of the launch vehicles may fall is partially located in the Verkhneketsky, Kolpashyovo, Kargasok, and Parabel districts and is bounded by an ellipse with the dimensions of the axes of 160 km x 50 km, centered 65 kilometers northwest of Lake Tresh.

"The fall and disintegration of the launch vehicle fragments will be accompanied by a bright glow. Residents of the Tomsk region should refrain from visiting the debris fall area at the specified time," the press service for the regional department quoted its chief Sergei Lukin as saying in a statement.
