MINSK. June 17 (Interfax) - Twenty-three Belarusian citizens and three Russian citizens were evacuated from Iran on Monday, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
"Two groups of Belarusian citizens (23 people in total) safely exited the Islamic Republic of Iran on June 16," the statement said.
"Three citizens of Russia left Iran together with the Belarusian citizens," it said.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry thanked Iranian and Azerbaijani partners for enabling these citizens' departure from Iran. It also thanked Russia for its effective cooperation and support.
The Belarusian embassy in Tehran is continuing efforts to establish contact with Belarusian citizens still in Iran, is compiling lists with the names of those who have applied for assistance and is working on possible options to help them exit the country, it said.
