MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - A resident of Kerch has been detained and taken into custody for passing information on positions of Russian air defense systems to Ukraine's military intelligence service, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said in a statement released by its press center on Tuesday.
"It has been found that a Kerch resident, born in 2003, established and engaged in secret collaboration with the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Defense Ministry," it said.
The man "arrived at the place where a military unit is stationed, where took photos of and filmed positions of air defense systems, as well as other military facilities of the Russian Armed Forces located on the peninsula," it said.
"He passed this information to a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry via the Telegram messenger," the statement said.
The investigative department of the FSB branch for the Republic of Crimea opened a high treason case against the man, who was also remanded in custody. He faces up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
"The suspect has admitted his guilt and has confessed to the crime," it said.
