Russian-N. Korean Treaty of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership constantly adjusted - Shoigu (Part 2)

PYONGYANG. June 17 (Interfax) - The intensive negotiations between Moscow and Pyongyang are related to the adjustment of the bilateral Treaty of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said.

"The pace of implementing the Treaty of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership requires constant attention and adjustment, as well as decision-making at every level," Shoigu told the press on Tuesday.

"First of all, it [the intensity] is related to the implementation of the treaty signed practically one year ago, the Treaty of Comprehensive Partnership, which is being fulfilled on paper and by practical deeds," Shoigu said.

The document gave "a strong impetus" to bilateral cooperation in all areas.

Shoigu came to North Korea earlier on Tuesday on orders from Russian President Vladimir Putin and held talks with North Korean President of the State Affairs Kim Jong Un.

Russia and North Korea signed the Treaty of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in Pyongyang on June 19, 2024. Both sides ratified it in November.
