ST. PETERSBURG. June 19 (Interfax) - Russia could keep working with Iran in the field of peaceful nuclear energy and ensure its interests in this area due to the high level of trust between Moscow and Tehran, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"On the whole, I believe that, considering Iran's plans to continue the use, the peaceful uses of nuclear materials, which also includes agriculture, healthcare and so on, not nuclear energy, while in the field of nuclear energy we could continue this work with Iran and ensure its interests in this area. I am saying so because we have a rather high level of confidence between us and have very good relations with Iran," Putin said at a meeting with the heads of international news agencies.
He said he would not go into details but there were quite a lot of them. "We have discussed all those details with both the Israeli and U.S. sides, and sent certain messages to our Iranian friends. On the whole, Iranian interests in peaceful atomic energy could be provided, while lifting Israeli security concerns," Putin said.
The proposals were conveyed to the United States, Israel and Iran, he said. "We are not pushing anything on anyone. We are just saying how we see a possible way out. Of course, the decision will be made by the political leadership of those countries, above all, Iran and Israel," he said.
