Israel promised Russian specialists in Iran will be safe - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - Israel has promised that Russian specialists working at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran will be safe, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We maintain a very smooth, trustful relationship with Israel. Putin said just yesterday there was an understanding with Israel that our specialists working in Bushehr would not be in danger and would not face the threat of a strike," Peskov said in an interview with RBC TV.

He confirmed Israel's promise that Russian specialists would be safe.

"Our dialogue with Israel and the trustful nature of this dialogue allow us to reach such understandings. This is very important," Peskov said.

Russia maintains a partnership with Iran, he said.

"President Putin definitely has a big potential for mediation efforts," Peskov said.

"There is need for mediation, while, at the same time, there is a tangle of outstanding problems," he said.
