MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Staff at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) have been attacked with drones for the first time right on the facility's grounds, which demonstrates a new level of threat, Rosatom's press service said in a statement on Friday.
"The Zaporozhye NPP's staff have been attacked on the plant's grounds for the first time. The attack has demonstrated a new level of threat to employees and structures at Europe's biggest NPP," the statement said.
Specialists are assessing damage and analyzing circumstances surrounding the attack, it said.
"Work at the NPP continues in accordance with all necessary measures of precaution. Safe operation of the NPP has been ensured," the statement said.
"Such attacks by Ukraine's armed forces pose a safety threat to the Zaporozhye NPP," it said. "That they now target nuclear specialists demonstrates a new level of inhumanness of the attackers," the statement said.
The attack was carried out earlier on Friday when three Ukrainian drones attacked employees working at the plant's hydrotechnical structures. As a result, a company car was damaged, the staff remained unharmed.
