BERLIN. June 30 (Interfax) - German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, currently visiting Kiev, has said that the European Union and its partners will continue to exert economic pressure on Russia.
"By means of sanctions [...] the EU and it G7 partners continue to work on maximum pressure on Russia." Wadephul said in a statement published on the German Foreign Ministry's website upon his arrival in Kiev.
Wadephul is due to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga.
Wadephul was appointed foreign minister in the government of German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz on May 6. The trip is Ukraine is his first official visit.
