MOSCOW. July 2 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) chief has held talks in Cuba, the SVR press bureau said.
"Sergei Naryshkin, director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, was hosted by Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, in Havana on June 30," a statement published on the SVR website on Wednesday said.
"The meeting had a warm, friendly atmosphere and was a useful addition to the dialogue between the two countries," it said.
"It demonstrated a high level of interaction between Russia and Cuba, which mark the 65th anniversary of the resumption of their diplomatic relations this year. Cuba's leader said that bilateral relations experienced different times throughout all these years and are entering a new stage today," SVR said.
"Diaz-Canel Bermudez thanked Russia for its unconditional support in the fight of the people of Cuba against the blockade and for the removal of Cuba from the list of countries that allegedly support terrorism," the statement said.
