RYAZAN. July 7 (Interfax) - An explosion occurred in the center of Russia's Ryazan, which killed one person and injured another four, the regional task force of emergency agencies said in a statement on the Telegram channel on Monday.
"A blast occurred today at around 6 p.m. on Sobornaya Street [preliminarily in the lounge bar]. Five people were injured, one of them died, and four others were hospitalized in moderately severe condition. There is no fire. Preliminary reports indicated that the explosion occurred due to careless handling of a live grenade by a man, which he mistook for a dummy," the statement said.
Emergency services are working at the scene. All circumstances of the incident are being established.
A preliminary investigation has been launched into the incident, the press service for the Ryazan regional prosecutor's office told Interfax.
