Putin, Mirziyoyev discuss development of Russian-Uzbek strategic partnership in phone call (Part 2)

MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev have discussed the development of bilateral relations in a phone call, the Kremlin press service said on Tuesday.

"The parties discussed relevant aspects of continued development of Russian-Uzbek relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance. Special significance was attached to implementing mutually beneficial joint projects in the energy, investment, and industrial production sectors, as well as expanding interregional, cultural and humanitarian ties," it said.

The presidents agreed to continue maintaining regular personal contacts, it said.

The Uzbek presidential press service said the two leaders discussed ways to practically implement agreements reached previously at the top level.

Mirziyoyev and Putin agreed that it was important to continue coordinated efforts and practical interagency engagement to step up bilateral trade, promote industrial cooperation projects in priority economic sectors, expand productive contacts at the regional level, and continue intensive cultural, humanitarian, and educational exchanges, it said.

"In this context, the parties emphasized the necessity of carefully preparing a second meeting of the Uzbek-Russian Council of Regions scheduled for fall this year and ensuring its productivity," it said.

The two presidents also exchanged opinions on the international agenda and reviewed a schedule of upcoming events, the Uzbek presidential press service said.
