MOSCOW. July 9 (Interfax) - Russia stays in contact with Azerbaijan regarding the detention of Russian journalists and believes that any problems should be solved in the spirit of partnership, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"We stay in contact with the Azerbaijani side in this regard, including at the level of law enforcement agencies," Zakharova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
She was asked how Russia would assess the prospects of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan against the backdrop of the detention of Russian journalists and what signals Baku was sending in that connection.
"We have no doubt that any arising problems should be solved in the spirit of partnership, using political and diplomatic channels. That's the approach that actually serves the fundamental interests of peoples in our countries," Zakharova said.
