Attack on Russian Defense Ministry's senior officer prevented in Crimea in May - FSB

MOSCOW. July 14 (Interfax) - A woman plotting to blow up the vehicle of a senior officer of the Russian Defense Ministry in Crimea in May on the orders from the Ukrainian security service has been detained, the Federal Security Service (FSB) said in a statement released by its public relations center said on Monday.

"Acting on the orders from the Security Service of Ukraine, a citizen of Russia and Ukraine, born in 2000, recruited by the security service, was due to blow up the personal vehicle of a Russian serviceman ahead of the Victory Day in May 2025, using the explosive device provided," it said.

Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine who recruited the woman and prepared her for the crime have been identified, the FSB said.

"The terrorist attack perpetrator has been detained, and Western-made components of an explosive device has been seized. Criminal cases have been opened against the detainee on Article 205 (terrorist attack) and Article 275 (treason) of the Russian Criminal Code," it said.
