KHABAROVSK, September 22 (AVN) -- An Il-76TD plane of the Russian Emergency Ministry left the Far Eastern city of Khabarovsk on Wednesday and is heading for Taiwan, a source in the regional emergency department told the Military News Agency.
The plane carries a load of relief equipment and 58 Russian rescuers. It is to land in the CCK airport of the Thaichung town 140 kilometres south of Taipei at 12.35 Moscow time (0835 GMT), the source said.
China did not permit the plane to enter its air space, that is why Russian rescuers will use an air corridor provided by Japan. A Taiwan fighter will guide the plane from the island's border to the CCK airport.
