PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, September 22 (AVN) -- A delegation of Russian border guards headed by Lieutenant-general Vladislav Prokhoda, commander of the Northeastern department of the Federal Border Guard Service, has arrived in Alaska to participate in joint partolling operations with the U.S. Coastal Guard.
Russian border guards were invited to Alaska by Rear-Admiral Thomas Barrett, commander of the 17th U.S. Coastal Guard district. Earlier this week, they have taken part in aerial patrolling of the district on the S-130 Hercules plane and visited the Northern Pacific Coastal Guard Training Centre on the island of Kadyak. On Wednesday, they patrolled the sea on the U. Coastal Guard ship Liberty.
Prokhoda and Barrett are expected to sign documents regulating conduction of joint operations on Thursday.
