YEKATERINBURG, September 22 (AVN) -- Police offices in the western Siberian city of Yekaterinburg arrested five servicemen of the Urals military district who stole ammunition from military depots and attempted at selling it, Captain Sergei Chernyshov, an aide to the district's military prosecutor, said on Wednesday.
Yekaterinburg police first arrested two servicemen stationed in Cantonement 32, who had on them four RGD-5 hand grenades and fuses, Chernyshov told the Military News Agency. An investigation was initiated and Lieutenant Mikhail Grekov exposed another three servicemen who had been were involved in the theft. Their downtown flat was searched and another nine grenades were found, Chernyshov said.
A mechanised infantry regiment where the soldiers were serving was getting ready to move to Dagestan.
