RUSSIAN SCENTIST DENOUCES FORMATION OF KOSOVO CORPS

MOSCOW, September 22 (AVN) -- Creation of the so-called Kosovo Corps out of former units of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) will surely cause grave consequences for security in the region, Yelena Guskova, director of the Centre for the Balkans Crisis under the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Slavic Studies, told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.

According to her, preservation of armed units in Kosovo will surely lead to its separation from Yugoslavia. She predicted creation of Great Albania which would unite Albanian enclaves in the territories of other Balkans countries. The newly-formed state can become "a European Chechnya," hostile and aggressive towards other peoples, she said.

Asked to comment on Russia's peacemaking activities in the Balkans region, Guskova said it should be reinforced by economic and diplomatic measures to outgo hostile Western forces.
