USAMA BIN LADEN'S ASSOCIATE ARRESTED IN ISTANBUL

MOSCOW, September 23 (AVN) -- Italian authorities on Thursday demanded the release before October 1 of a close associate to Saudi-born millionaire-terrorist Usama bin Laden. The associate was arrested in Istanbul in early September.

The Military News Agency learnt that the associate, who is of Tunisian origin, had arrived in Turkey from Bosnia.

He had been on Interpol's wanted list since June 9, 1998 on the behest of Italy which accuses him of terrorism. Turkish law enforcers suspect him of involvement in attempting on the life of a prominent Turkish politician.

The associate is now being held in Istanbul's Metris prison.
