YEKATERINBURG, September 24 (AVN) -- The elite medical detachment of the Urals military district is to leave for the North Caucasus on Saturday, a source in the district headquarers told the Military News Agency.
The detachment, which is likely to be stationed in Chechnya's adjacent Stavropol territory, has recently filled all vacancies in its establishment. It currently comprises 150 doctors and nurses, who had to do a tough job removing weapons and field medical kits from long-term storage to ensure that the detachment is ready for combat operations.
According to local medical specialists, the the Urals detachment is able to provide first medical aid to the wounded, prepare them for transportation to rear hospitals and even perform complicated surgeries in the field.
