MOSCOW, Septmeber 27 (AVN) -- The Russian Air Force will destroy everything that takes off from Chechnya without the sanction of federal authorities, a source in the Air Force Staff told the Military News Agency on Monday.
According to the Air Force commander, Colonel-General Anatoly Kornukov, federal aviation has accomplished 80 percent of combat missions related to elimination of guerillas in Chechnya. This is why pilots and their family members are constantly receiving threats from terrorists, the source said.
The Air Force is taking all possible measures to prevent acts of terrorism, the source continued. Fighter aviation aircraft stationed close to the Chechen administrative border are set on high alert and are constantly patrolling airfields and cantonments. Everything that takes off from the Chechen territory without a federal sanction will be shot down, he added.
