КAZAKH ARMY GETS READY TO FIGHT TERRORISTS IN KYRGYZ MOUNTIANS

ASTANA, September 28 (AVN) - The Kazakhstan general and air defence forces have completed mountain tactical exercise in the Guard Garrison Training Centre in the Alma-Ata region.

Reservists who have a military experience in Afghanistan were involved in the exercise, supervised by the acting Kazakh defence minister, Lieutenant-General Bakhytzhan Yertayev.

The exercise concentrated mostly on mountaineous operations, Yertayev told the Military News Agency, adding that it had been planned beforelong and was not connected with the situation in Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, an Agency source in the Kazakhstan government made a hint that military structures of the republic have already recieved a task to prepare several mountain units for participation in the anti-guerilla campaign in the south of Kyrgyzstan.
