CIS SECURITY CHIEFS COUNCIL TO TAKE PLACE IN ST. PETERSBURG ON THURSDAY

MOSCOW, September 29 (AVN) - The sixth session of the CIS security chiefs council is to be held in St. Petersburg on Thursday where Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is expected to make a speech on international terrorism.

All leaders of delegations including Director of the Russian Federal Security Service Nikolai Patrushev, who is likely to replace Putin as head of the council, are to come to St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

The session is planning discuss joint actions against terrorism and political extremism, economic security, protection of interstate secrets and exchanges of information on mafia combatting through a joint data base.

Russian President Boris Yeltsin sent his greetings to participants of the session and expressed a hope that the session would stimulate co-operation between security services of the CIS member countries.
