ENGINEERS TO BLAME FOR HALF OF ACCIDENTS IN RUSSIAN AIR FORCE

MOSCOW, September 29 (AVN) - Almost half of the incidents in the Russian Air Force happen due to specialists of the air-engineering service, deputy head of the Defence Ministry Flight Security Service Major-General Sergey Solntsev told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.

Only two percent of incidents were caused by this service in the Soviet times, while only 24 out of 73 incidents that happened in Russian since 1995 were caused by technical problems or negligence of airmen, and the ground services are to blame for the rest, he added.

According to him, the decrease in the number and frequency of flights affects the qualification of engineering personnel qualification and is the main cause of the problem.
