MAKHACHKALA, October 20 (AVN) - Four commandant units of about 600 people total to act on the territory of the Chechen Naursky, Nadterechny and Shelkovskoy districts are being formed in Dagestan.
Dagestan Military Commissar Major-General Magomed Tinamagomedov told a correspondent of the Military News Agency that the main task of these units is to support local Interior departments, Prosecutor's offices, courts and local self-ruling departments.
Each unit consists of repair, economy and shooting platoons and an aid post. The units are to be manning on a contract basis.
At present 11 units of this kind, formed under the command of the Russian General Staff are acting on the territory of Dagestan.
