FEDERAL AVIATION IN CHECHNYA EQUIPPED WITH UP-TO-DATE AMMUNITION

MOZDOK, October 25 (AVN) -- The aviation command of the unified federal group in the North Caucasus on Monday refuted foreign media reports claiming that federal aviation uses written-off ammunition in its strikes against guerrillas.

According to a spokesman for the unified headquarters, federal aviation has been using S-8, S-24 and S-25 rockets and 100 to 150-kg air bombs, including KAB-500 correctables.

At the same time, the spokesman admitted that several technical probles did emerge in course of the anti-guerrilla operation. Most of them resulted from lack of modern means of communication, he said.

Many federal radio stations were designed 20 to 30 years ago, an officer of the unified combat training department told the Military News Agency. They cannot but decrease effectiveness of troops management, he added.
