MOSCOW, October 26 (AVN) -- The CIS unified air defence system on Wednesday and Thursday will hold a command and staff training of its command bodies and duty forces, a source in the Russian Air Force Staff told the Military News Agency.
The training, supervised by Russian Air Force Commander Anatoly Kornukov, will involve about 1,000 servicemen and up to 40 aircraft from Russia, Armenia, Byelorussia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the spokesman said.
According to him, Uzbekistan has not participated in such trainings since 1996. Its contingent will be headed by Air Force and Air Defence Commander Georgy Abdurakhmanov.
At the same time, Russia and Ukraine will hold a bilateral training to improve interaction between air and air defence forces of the two countries, the spokesman said. It will involve up to 20 combat aircraft.
