ABOUT 300 FOREIGN MERCENARIES ARRIVE IN CHECHNYA

MOZDOK, November 1 (AVN) -- About 300 mercenaries from Arab countries, Middle Asian states and Ukraine have arrived in Chechnya to form part of local guerrilla gangs, a source in the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency, citing intelligence data.

The mercenaries are accomodated near the villages of Itum-Kale, Nozhai-Yurt and Vedeno, the source said.

According to him, more mercenaries will soon arrive in Chechnya through Iran and Azerbaijan. Some of them have already left training camps in Afghanistan, while others are completing training courses. As much as 50 guerrillas are being trained at a base in Saudi Arabia and another 70 in the Baar-2 terrorist camp in Afghanistan.

Chechen guerrillas will also receive four million U.S dollars 24 Stinger portable air defence missile systems from the Taliban extremist movement, the source said.
