MOSCOW, November 1 (AVN) -- Prosecutors of the Moscow garrison have compeled the investigation into criminal activity of three officers of the former Central Military Construction Department charged with embezzlement and theft of building materials, a spokesman for the Moscow Chief Military Prosecutor's Office said on Monday.
Charges were brought against Colonel Vladimir Molchanovsky, the head of Construction Superintendant's Office 316, Major Sergei Vishnyakov, the office's chief accountant, and Colonel Alexei Palyi, the head of the office's building operations department, who allegedly embezzled a total of 1,6 million roubles (about 61,000 U.S. dollars), the spokesman told the Military News Agency.
According to him, the three men conspired to crook the books, thus making fake debts to other organisations. Then they transfered considerable sums of money to these organisations' accounts, cashed them in and stole them.
The case will be tried in the military court of the Moscow garrison.
