ST. PETERSBURG ENGINEERS DESIGNED NEW TANKERS

ST.PETERSBURG, November 2 (AVN) - Engineers from Admiralteiskiye Verfi shipbuilding enterprise engineering centre have finished documentation for Arctic tanker of 55000 tun full load displacement and ice class tanker of 15600 tun full load displacement.

It is planned to start building the ships in 2000.

The Military News Agency learned in Admiralteiskiye Verfi that due to co-operation with Swedish Kockums Computer System firm and Petersburg Erimeks company engineering centre can design and modify up to four types of ships per year.

Swedish TRIBON system for automated design is used as a base one. Being used for just one project of arctic tanker of 20000 tun full load it paid back half of its cost.

With the help of the TRIBON system the enterprise managed to diminish working hours and make ships of higher quality under the shorter terms.
