MOZDOK, November 4 (AVN) -- Federal Su-25 attack planes and Su-24 front-line bombers have accomplished about 80 combat missions in Chechnya since Wednesday, the Military News Agency learned on Thursday.
Another 40 missions were accomplished by helicopters of the army aviation. Aircraft inflicted missile and bomb strikes on guerrilla strongpoints, staffs, camps and bases in the Argun canyon, in the outskirts of Grozny and near the localities of Gudermes, Shatoi, Vashan, Daroiy and Vedeno. They eliminated four stongpoints, 10 bases and camps, seven armoured vehicles and over 150 guerrillas, destroyed four bridges, created eight road blocks and mined over 40 kilometres of roads.
Intelligence of the unified federal group in the North Caucasus has not yet found substantiation to reports that guerrillas adopted Stinger portable air defence missile systems. Federal aircraft are only attacked by air defence artillery and large-calibre machine-guns. Effectiveness of these weapons does not exceed 0.2 percent.
