OVER 1,000 OFFICERS QUIT MOSCOW POLICE IN OCTOBER

MOSCOW, November 4 (AVN) -- As much as 1,080 officers quit Moscow police in October, a spokesman for the Russian Interior Ministry said on Thursday.

Official reasons for quitting are tough working schedule and unwillingness to be dispatched to trouble spots, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. However according to preliminary results of the inspection held by the Interior Ministry, most officers quit because of social and household problems, such as low salaries, poor housing conditions, bad organisation of leisure and declining authority of the service.

Most of the quitting officers are those who have served in police for more than 20 years and are entitled to pensions. Others are young officers whose first contract term has expired. They all are hoping to find better jobs in private companies and security agencies.
